Management at L'Oréal Australia and New Zealand

8.3
8.3 rating for Management, based on 23 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
3 managers, all have been great.

I have always been extremely satisfied with my managers. My 3 managers in the MT program have been deeply supportive, always open to my feedback and willing to work with me. No matter how busy they were, I always felt that they had 5-10 minutes for me to answer a quick question or have a speedy working session. Particularly in my second rotation, I feel that all my work gets recognised and that I get praise for any positive outcomes, with my manager seeking to give me credit whenever I can, which makes me feel really valued within the business. In my first rotation, where the team was struggling a bit with a few people missing from the team, I always felt valued in the sense that my managers would regularly thank me for my being willing to help out where I could, no matter how intense the period was. I've also been able to regularly get feedback, which has been instrumental in my improvement in a professional capacity over the past 12 months.

Obviously depends. I've had managers who were so patient and kind and took me through everything I've had other managers handball me all their work and take credit for it communication is amazing with some, nonexistent with others. Overall I feel like l'oreal should have proper training for people to become managers, because some of my old managers were definitely not qualified to be responsible for someone (especially a graduate)

The managers are very mixed when it comes to skillsets and approachability. I feel like lots of the managers within Loreal are too fixed on just climbing a corporate ladder, and skip important skillsets to get there. Lots of the managers are not capable of assisting with day to day tasks an MT would receive, and rather send you on a long and unsure path to find help elsewhere. They often have no time for you, and get frustrated when you are asking questions. It was also incredibly annoying when you were given a task by them and they have incredibly unrealistic deadlines, as they do not know how to do it themselves and don't understand the intricacies.

In my experience, managers have been fairly accessible throughout. 'Connect' conversations are held on a semi-regular basis, reflecting on performance in a balanced way. Teams will also hold regular catch-ups and recognise accomplishments to ensure they get the attention they deserve.

Great managers, sometimes very busy, but if you put in time with them you will have someone in your court

No feedback/praise/recognition, have been quite inaccessible due to their busyness but overall nice people.

My managers have been great as they are very open to talk to and have provided any assistance when needed. They have approached communication with weekly meetings and have given me enough freedom to do things by myself while also providing feedback of things done not so well.

The managers are all extremely supportive and excellent mentors.

All my managers have been fantastic mentors and teachers who have supported me at all points in my graduate experience. They keep open comms and regularly provide feedback and growth opportunities which is thoroughly appreciated.

Managers are very approachable at L'Oreal and are always willing to be mentors and teach. Not only do they offer feedback but they all accept and acknowledge feedback that you give to them too. In both my rotations, my managers have given me praise and recognition when I did something great and the team is very supportive when you do.

All 3 of my managers have been amazing, accessible and willing to teach

Great mentors, very open about feedback and making sure you are well equipped for the role, a lot of recognition and 1:1 time available

Some managers are great but some managers aren't accessible or good mentors.

Yes, my managers so far have been great in supporting my career and helping me understand the company and the dynamics of a corporate setting. We typically give feedback informally which I think helps with faster and more effective development. I feel that my efforts are recognised majority of the time. There has only been a handful of instances where I've felt a lack of recognition which was largely due to the climate and timing of the work. For the most part, I feel that we are given the platform and visibility to share with leaders of the company and be rewarded for efforts.
