We have our second meeting for the day, this is a design strategy workshop for a new mixed-use development we are managing.

6.00 AM

I wake up around 6 am, have a quick breakfast and get ready for the day. I get the train just after 7 am, during this time I listen to music, check my calendar for the day and catch up on any news and messages.

8.00 AM

Once I arrive at the office, I set up at my desk and prepare for my first meeting. I have a busy morning ahead, so I quickly sift through any new emails, finalise the agenda and print the previous meeting minutes. I put on my PPE and jump in the GoGet with my project manager to head off to the site.

9.00 AM

This morning is the monthly PCG meeting, the purpose of this meeting is to update the Client on the project progress including construction, financials, authorities & programme. We have a coffee and catch up with the Builder & Client when arriving on site, the meeting runs for 1 hour and I take meeting minutes, noting any key actions or decisions discussed.

10.00 AM

After the PCG meeting we walk through the site to review of the construction progress. We also use this walk to review any design changes or issues that may require Client decision/direction.

Today we also have a defect inspection scheduled on site, the Architect attends and we inspect one of the completed apartments with a key focus on the quality of finishes & detailing including stone, tiles, flooring & joinery. This project is a luxury apartment development, so defecting is an important process we undertake to ensure the quality of the apartments being delivered. We take photos and note defects which will later be issued in a list to the builder to rectify.

I’m back from site and it’s time for lunch! I head out of the office with a few people from our team, we sit by the waterfront to eat and have a chat/catch up before heading back to work.

1.30 PM

After lunch I make a coffee and catch up with my Project Manager, we go through all actions items for our projects and make a list of key tasks & priorities for the afternoon. During this time, I follow up on action items from the PCG meeting, complete the meeting minutes and compile the defect list from today’s inspection to issue to the Builder & Architect.

3.00 PM

We have our second meeting for the day, this is a design strategy workshop for a new mixed-use development we are managing. During the meeting, the Client discusses the project brief, the Architect presents their concept drawings and we discuss the pathway forward for the project. I take meeting minutes which I will later issue out to all attendees.

4.00 PM

I spend the rest of the afternoon responding to emails, Client queries and completing some of my admin tasks including invoicing & reports.

5.30 PM

Around this time, I start to wrap up my day, send my last few emails and check my calendar for tomorrow. I update my OneNote and check in with my Project Manager to see if there are any other tasks to complete today.

I head straight from work to play badminton with a few of my colleagues and we grab dinner together afterwards.
