Pros & Cons

  • Range of opportunities available in my work.
  • Flexibility, quality of work and autonomy. I am provided with challenges whenever requested and excellent learning opportunities. Working from home options.
  • The culture, the flexibility, the type of work being aligned to what I enjoy doing, and the people around me.
  • The work environment
  • The people I have worked with and experiences provided are both enriching, contributes to personal and professional growth. Work is flexible and individuals are all respected equally. Core values are implemented as per quote and diversity are highly inclusive as well, which made me feel open and at home.
  • Workload is high in the busy season.
  • Sometimes it is difficult to build connections with colleagues as there is a strong work from home culture.
  • Team has shrunk a lot since starting. On the other hand this has resulted in more responsibility which I enjoy.
  • Had a steep learning curve.
  • As a graduate, there are some slow periods where you won't have any work. However, it's a great opportunity to complete any outstanding training modules or perhaps do some research on any upcoming projects you might be engaged on.

Career Prospects
With the amount of responsibility I am given in the early stage of my career, it has progressed me at a steady rate and has given me confidence. The best way to get promoted is to show a real interest in your work, and show that you're willing to go above and beyond.

GT has their very own GT foundation which supports the community through financial donations and volunteering. I had participated in the habitats of humanity volunteering in painting the house and it was an enriching experience.

The Managers at GT all bring their own unique style, but they all work. I have received performance feedback on most projects I have done, and always feel like I am contributing.

Really big office spaces with many desks with additional screens. Some can convert to standing desks. Kitchen is big with lots of seating and has microwaves, dishwashers and plates and cutlery.

Recruitment
I found the process to be a good experience, especially compared with other companies that i also applied to. I had to complete online assessments and interviews which were challenging but not too hard and not too time consuming like others, which was helpful as the process is typically performed whilst managing full-time university commitments. The in-person assessment centre followed this online process, which was also performed at a good level. While the three stages of the assessment were challenging enough, they still gave room for individuals to showcase their strengths.

Training
I think the informal / on the job training is really efficient and effective. In my opinion, if this type of training is provided, there is great opportunities to learn and grow. The formal training programs were really good when we first started in our role, however I think a lot of these training videos weren't as relevant when we first started, and would be relevant to reinforce now at a more advanced level. We have also been provided associate training calls which are helpful.

Work Hours
I usually get in around 8:30am and leave at 5:15. There have been some days where I've been in until 5:45-6pm, but this only happens when I have a few jobs going. GT are great with hours - management are happy for you to jump to an appointment, go to the gym etc, as long as you communicate this and complete the tasks you are given.
